The City of Cedar Rapids and Linn County Public Health want to encourage residents to find and fix lead-paint hazards in your home. It’s FREE to find out if you are eligible – but funds for this program are limited. Houses built before 1978 have a greater chance of lead-paint contamination. Click on the flyer for more details.

WiSE STEM Extravaganza

The Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) STEM Extravaganza for 4th –  6th Grade girls will take place on Sunday afternoon, February 12th, 1:00 – 5:00 p.m., at the Kirkwood Regional Center at the University of Iowa. Students will participate in large-group science activities and three smaller breakout sessions that focus on Technology, Engineering, and Math.  Click on the flyer for more information.

Prairie Youth Wrestling Night January 12

Prairie Wrestling will recognize & celebrate its youth wrestling programs at their home meet this Thursday, January 12th.  Wrestling begins at 5:30 PM.  FREE ADMISSION for all youth wrestlers wearing the team t-shirt.

College Community Four Year Old Preschool Program Services Available

College Community Prairie Pride Preschool provides high quality learning experiences that provide opportunity for students to enter kindergarten ready to learn. Prairie Hawks preschool adheres to state and national program standards. Four year old preschool programs are available to all eligible students at all of Prairie’s Elementary Schools.   Full and part-day preschool services are available. Block Kids Building Contest

The National Association of Women in Construction is sponsoring a Block Kids Building Contest for grades K-6 on Saturday, January 28, 2017 at Kirkwood. Participation is free but space is limited to 60 children so registration is required. Click on the flyer below for details about the event.

Summit Schools Learning Extensions January 16

Summit Schools is offering a Learning Extensions Camp (aka in-service day camp) on Monday, January 16, 2017 for all students grades K-6th.  This camp takes place at NewBo City Market. Our theme is “Fire & Ice” and includes activities with The Ceramics Center, the University of Iowa’s Arts Share program, The National Czech & Slovak Museum & Library, and the Cedar Rapids YMCA.
